Russia to build a new deep-sea port on the Baltic SeaThe Russian government has revealed plans to build a new deep-sea port between Lithuania and Poland on the Baltic Sea.

Located at Kalingrad, the port will include a container terminal with a capacity of 38.6m tonnes, a bulk cargo terminal with a capacity of 5.4m tonnes, and a roll-on, roll-off terminal.

The proposed port will be able to handle ships with capacities of up to 8,000TEU’s, reported Crewing.in.

“The decision follows the government forecast of Baltic container trade to grow 15% per year until 2018.”

Work on the new deep-sea port is expected to begin by the end of 2015.

Throughput of Russian seaports up 3% to 495.8 mln t in 9M’15In January-September 2015, Russian seaports handled 3% 495.8 mln t of cargo (+3%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled  223.5 mln t (+1.5%) including 90.9 mln t of coal (+3.9%), 21.5 mln t of grain (+2.3%), 19.9 mln t of ferrous metal (+13.2%), 12.3 mln t of cargoes carried by ferries (up  1.7 tims), 11.7 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+6.7%), 5.0 mln t of ore (+5.3%), 4.0 mln t of timber (+9.9%) and 2.7 mln t of non-ferrous metal (+14.2%).  Transshipment of containerized cargo fell to 30.0 mln t (-14.9%), scrap metal – to 3.3 mln t (-10.3%), refrigerated cargo – to 2.3 mln t (-15.6%).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 272.3 mln t (+4.3%) including 150.2 mln t of crude (+5.4%), 110.2 mln t of oil products (+3.3%) and 9.4 mln t of liquefied gas (+3.2%).

Transshipment of export cargo totaled 396.8 mln t (+5.2%), import – 25.1 mln t (-23.5%), transit – 35.9 mln t (-1.3%), coastal trade cargo – 38.0 mln t (+8.5%).

Establishment of Belarusian-Russian-Kazakh logistics company proceeds on scheduleEvents of the first stage of the process meant to establish the United Transport and Logistics Company of Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan (UTLC) are about to end on schedule.
Belarusian First Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Yevgeny Rogachev made the statement during the online conference hosted by the BelTA website on 1 October. According to the source, Belarusian Railways has contributed RUB32.7 million to the authorized fund of the company to be established. “We expect that in the near future the Kazakh side will transfer its monetary contribution and honor its commitments,” noted the official.
Yevgeny Rogachev pointed out that the so-called consolidated business system of the UTLC group of companies is being created now. “The operational model for the group has been approved. Participants of the project now have general understanding of how the system will operate, how the authority and competence will be distributed. In essence the basic rules that all the companies of the UTLC group will follow in their working with clients have been adopted,” explained the representative of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry. Asked about the benefits Belarus has gained by joining the project, the official said it was too early to talk about that. “It is worth waiting for the annual performance report. When we were evaluating the business plan, we were positive about the project. We hope it will bring good results to Belarus,” he said.
In spring 2015 Russian Railways President Vladimir Yakunin stated that UTLC services are in demand. In his words, the first contract has been signed with the world’s top logistic company DHL. According to Yevgeny Rogachev, UTLC President Piotr Baskakov intends to take part in events of the Belarusian Transport Week that will take place in Minsk on 6-8 October.

NCSP Group cargo turnover for 8M 2015 grew 2.6% to 92.6 mln t

NCSP Group cargo turnover for 8M 2015 grew 2.6% to 92.6 mln tNCSP Group hereby reports that its consolidated cargo turnover for 8M 2015 comprised 92.6 million tonnes, up 2.6% or 2.3 mln t year-on-year.

Transshipment of liquid cargo comprised 72 005 thousand tonnes ; bulk cargo – 7 697 thousand tonnes; general cargo – 9 407 thousand; and container cargo – 3 443 thousand tonnes.

Volumes of liquid cargo increased 1.2% year-on-year; bulk and general cargo increased 6% and 16.5% year-on-year respectively. Container traffic reduced 8.2% year-on-year in tonnes.

In eight months of 2015 NCSP Group loaded 72 005 thousand tonnes of liquid cargo. Crude oil volumes amounted to 49 993 thousand tonnes. Oil products volumes increased by 2 145 thousand tonnes versus same period last year and reached 21 404 thousand tonnes. Oil product’s growth rates comprised 11.1% year-on-year versus industry’s total growth 3.7% year-on-year, according to ASOP.

Transshipment of UAN and seed oil in January-August 2015 totaled 455 thousand tonnes and 154 thousand tonnes respectively.

Volumes of bulk cargo in the reporting period increased by 434 thousand tonnes or 6.0% year-on-year and reached 7 697 thousand tonnes.

Transshipment of grain comprised 3 965 thousand tonnes; chemical cargo totaled 762 thousand tonnes; sugar accounted for 677 thousand tonnes; iron ore totaled 1 333 thousand tonnes, and coal amounted to 961 thousand tonnes.

During this forum was signed 80 different agreements in the total amount of 1.3 trillion rubles value.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held the speech during second day of the Forum. He told potential investors from Asian countries about the support mechanisms, and while enumerating the advantages of Free port of Vladivostok, opening in October, suggested the government to consider extending benefits to other harbors of Far East. The companies from the border provinces of China show interest in the port, the president said. Now a special zone includes the ports along the coast near Vladivostok from Zarubino to Nakhodka. The list of benefits of free port – the free customs zone, reducing the income tax rate (10% during ten years) and insurance fees (8% during ten years), simplified customs procedures: round the clock checkpoints, electronic declaration of goods and clearance through a single point control for deliveries, as well as visa-free regime up to 8 days.The free port of Vladivostok is managed by the supervisory board, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev.

Throughput of Russian seaports up 2.6% to 437.4 mln t in 8M’15In January-August 2015, Russian seaports handled 437.4 mln t of cargo (+2.6%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 195.0 mln t of cargo (+0.3%) including 79.7 mln t of coal (+2.5%), 17.7 mln t of ferrous metal (+11.3%), 10.7 mln t of cargoes carried by ferries (up 1.7 times), 10.4 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+4.8%), 4.3 mln t of ore (+5.3%), 3.5 mln t of timber (+9.5%) and 2.5 mln t of non-ferrous metal (+19.0%).  Transshipment of containerized cargo fell to 26.7 mln t (-14.7%), 17.0 mln t of grain (-2.1%) and 2.9 mln t of scrap metal (-12.8%).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 242.4 mln t (+4.5%) including 133.4 mln t of crude (+5.6%), 98.5 mln t of oil products (+3.7%) and 8.4 mln t of liquefied gas (+2.0%).

Transshipment of export cargo totaled 350.3 mln t (+4.7%, year-on-year), import – 22.3 mln t (-23.6%), transit – 32.3 mln t (-0.7%), coastal trade cargo – 32.6 mln t (+8.6%).

Operators of the Arctic Basin terminals handled 23.4 mln t (-0.8%, year-on-year) including 16.1 mln t of dry cargo (-5.8%) and 7.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+12.3%). Port Varandei handled 4.3 mln t (+11.0%), Arkhangelsk – 2.7 mln t (+5.1%), Murmansk – 14.6 mln t (-3.8%).

The ports of the Baltic Basin handled 151.8 mln t (+1.2%) including 57.7 mln t of dry cargo (-2.5%) and 94.1 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+3.6%). The port of Ust-Luga handled 57.1 mln t of cargo (+15.5%), Primorsk – 38.8 mln t (+4.0%), Big Port St. Petersburg – 34.7 mln t (-15.5%), Vysotsk – 11.7 mln t (-3.0%), Kaliningrad – 8.5 mln t (-5.4%).

Throughput of Azov – Black Sea ports climbed to 145.1 mln t (+4.3%) including 54.7 mln t of dry cargo (+7.1%) and 90.4 mln of liquid bulk cargo t (+2.7%). The port of Novorossiysk handed 84.3 mln t (+3.5%), Tuapse – 16.9 mln t (+16.0%), Taman – 7.6 mln t (+12.4%), Taganrog – 2.0 mln t (+5.2%), Temryuk – 1.7 mln t (+34.9%), Kavkaz – 14.4 mln t (-15.9%), Rostov – 6.6 mln t (-3.7%), Azov – 3.9 mln t (-9.6%), Yeisk – 2.2 mln t (-8.5%). Seaports of Crimea handed 5.5 mln t.

The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 4.7 mln t грузов (-11.5%) including 2.1 mln t of dry cargo (-3.8%) and 2.6 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-17.1%). The port of Makhachkala fell by 18.8% to 2.8 mln t, Olya – by 11.5%.  Throughput of port Astrakhan increased by 3.1% to 1.7 mln t.

The ports of Far East Basin handled 112.4 mln t (+3.7%) including 64.3 mln t of dry cargo (-0.9%) and 48.1 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+10.5%). Port Vostochny handled 43.4 mln t (+13.7%), Vanino – 17.7 (+2.5%), De-Castri –  6.7 mln t (+29.3%), Nakhodka – 13.9 mln t (-1.9%), Prigorodnoye – 10.6 mln t (-2.4%), Vladivostok – 8.3 mln t (-20.3%), Posiet – 4.2 (-12.5%).

First commercial ship to call at Bronka on September 8, 2015On September 8, Multipurpose Sea Cargo Complex “Bronka” (MSCC Bronka, Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg) will host a ceremonial event dedicated to the first commercial call. According to the project investor Fenix LLC, M/V Finnmill (Finnlines) with port equipment on board will moor at Bronka’s Berth No 2 at 12:00 (Moscow time).

The vessel’s departure is scheduled for 15:30 (Moscow time).

M/V Finnmill will deliver 25 Terberg YT 222 marine tractors with the capacity of 35 t each. This state-of-the-art equipment features enhanced capacity and strengthened design of major units.
The vessel will also deliver 25 Novatech container chassis dedicated for the port’s Phase 1.

Transshipment of containerized cargo fell to 23.2 mln t (-15.5%), grain – to 12.4 mln t (-3.2%) and scrap metal – to 2.5 mln t (-12.6%).

Port Ust-Luga handled 49.9 mln t (+16.6%), Primorsk – 34.3 mln t (+3.4%), Big Port St. Petersburg – 30.4 mln t (-14.9%), Vysotsk – 9.9 mln t (-5.5%), Kaliningrad – 7.5 mln t (-4.9%).

Throughput of Azov – Black Sea ports climbed to 125.0 mln t (+5.8%) including 45.3 mln t of dry cargo (+8.9%), 79.7 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+4.2%). Port Novorossiysk handled 74.1 mln t (+4.3%), Tuapse – 14.6 mln t (+15.3%), Taman – 6.3 mln t (+5.8%), Temryuk – 1.6 mln t (up 1.5 times), Taganrog – 1.6 mln t (+4.8%), Kavkaz – 12.0 mln t (-9.1%), Rostov – 5.5 mln t (-0.2%), Azov – 2.8 mln t (-14.4%), Yeisk – 1.8 mln t (-4.9%). Seaports of Crimea handled 4.6 mln t of cargo including 3.8 mln t handled in Kerch and 0.3 mln t – in Sevastopol.

Port Makhachkala handled 2.5 mln t of cargo (-16.3%), throughput of port Olya decreased by 3.1%.  Port Astrakhan handled 1.5 mln t of cargo (+7.9%).

The ports of Far East Basin handled 97.7 mln t (+3.8%) including 55.4 mln t of dry cargo (-1.1%) and 42.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+11.0%). Port Vostochny handled 37.8 mln t of cargo (+14.8%), Vanino – 15.7 mln t (+3.4%), De-Castri – 5.9 mln t (+26.5%), Nakhodka – 12.0 mln t (-1.8%), Prigorodnoye – 9.3 mln t (-3.2%), Vladivostok – 7.2 mln t (-20.7%), Posiet – 3.7 mln t (-14.8%).
