Throughput of Russian seaports up 3.2% to 379.9 mln t in 7M’15

In January-July 2015, Russian seaports handled 379.9 mln t of cargo (+3.2%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 166.6 mln t (+0.7%) including 68.8 mln t of coal (+3.0%), 15.8 mln t of ferrous metal (+12.9%), 9.1 mln t of cargoes carried by ferries (up 1.7 times), 8.9 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+2.2%), 3.5 mln t of ore (+5.0%), 3.1 mln t of timber (+11.1%) and 2.2 mln t of non-ferrous metal (+19.8%). Transshipment of containerized cargo fell to 23.2 mln t (-15.5%), grain – to 12.4 mln t (-3.2%) and scrap metal – to 2.5 mln t (-12.6%).

<!–more–>Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 213.3 mln t (+5.3%) including 117.8 mln t of crude oil (+5.9%), oil products – 86.1 mln t (+5.4%) and liquefied gas – 7.4 mln t (+1.1%).

Transshipment of export cargo totaled 304.6 mln t (+5.0%, year-on-year), import – 19.5 mln t (-23.6%), transit – 28.7 mln t (+0.8%), coastal trade cargo – 27.1 mln t (+12.7%).

Operators of the Arctic Basin terminals handled 20.3 mln t (no changes against 7M’14). Transshipment of dry cargo fell to 13.9 mln t (-4.3%), liquid bulk cargo – up to 6.3 mln t (+11.5%). Port Varandei handled 3.7 mln t (+10.6%), Arkhangelsk  – 2.4 mln t (+6.4%), Murmansk – 12.7 mln t (-3.8%).

The ports of the Baltic Basin handled 132.7 mln t (+1.4%) including 50.1 mln t of dry cargo (-2.8%), 82.6 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+4.1%). Port Ust-Luga handled 49.9 mln t (+16.6%), Primorsk – 34.3 mln t (+3.4%), Big Port St. Petersburg – 30.4 mln t (-14.9%), Vysotsk – 9.9 mln t (-5.5%), Kaliningrad – 7.5 mln t (-4.9%).

Throughput of Azov – Black Sea ports climbed to 125.0 mln t (+5.8%) including 45.3 mln t of dry cargo (+8.9%), 79.7 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+4.2%). Port Novorossiysk handled 74.1 mln t (+4.3%), Tuapse – 14.6 mln t (+15.3%), Taman – 6.3 mln t (+5.8%), Temryuk – 1.6 mln t (up 1.5 times), Taganrog – 1.6 mln t (+4.8%), Kavkaz – 12.0 mln t (-9.1%), Rostov – 5.5 mln t (-0.2%), Azov – 2.8 mln t (-14.4%), Yeisk – 1.8 mln t (-4.9%). Seaports of Crimea handled 4.6 mln t of cargo including 3.8 mln t handled in Kerch and 0.3 mln t – in Sevastopol.

The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 4.2 mln t of cargo (-8.3%) including 1.9 mln t of dry cargo (+5.2%) and 2.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-17.2%). Port Makhachkala handled 2.5 mln t of cargo (-16.3%), throughput of port Olya decreased by 3.1%.  Port Astrakhan handled 1.5 mln t of cargo (+7.9%).

The ports of Far East Basin handled 97.7 mln t (+3.8%) including 55.4 mln t of dry cargo (-1.1%) and 42.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+11.0%). Port Vostochny handled 37.8 mln t of cargo (+14.8%), Vanino – 15.7 mln t (+3.4%), De-Castri – 5.9 mln t (+26.5%), Nakhodka – 12.0 mln t (-1.8%), Prigorodnoye – 9.3 mln t (-3.2%), Vladivostok – 7.2 mln t (-20.7%), Posiet – 3.7 mln t (-14.8%).

Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
