Statistics of Russian seaports in 11 month of 2016

Throughput of Russian seaports up 2.6% to 437.4 mln t in 8M’15In January-November 2016, Russian seaports handled 657.7 mln t of cargo (+6.4%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 306.7 mln t (+7.9%) including:
124.6 mln t of coal (+11.1%),
38.9 mln t of containerized cargo (+6.6%),
26 mln t of ferrous metal (+6.7%),
32.2 mln t of grain (+4.6%),
20.8 mln t of cargo carried by ferries (+4.7%),
7.9 mln t of ore (+ 27.3%),
5 mln t of timber (+2.9%),
4.1 mln t of ro-ro cargo (up 1.8 times),
14.6 mln t of chemical fertilizers (+0.4%),
3.7 mln t of scrap-metal (-1.9%).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo increased by 5.2% to 351 mln t including
207.5 mln t of crude oil (+12.2%),
127.8 mln t of oil products (-4.4%)
12.3 mln t of liquefied gas (+5%).

Transshipment of export cargo totaled 517.4 mln t (+5.3%), import – 28.8 mln t (-5.5%), transit – 46.1 mln t (+5%), coastal trade cargo – 65.4 mln t (+25.6%).

Total container turnover in Russian seaports in January – November of 2016 increased by 1% year-on-year to 3.63 mln TEU, including total export 1.49 mln TEU (-0.9%), import — 1,52 mln TEU (+1,6%), transit — 45.17 thou TEU (-29.1%), cabotage — 582.45 thou TEU (+8.1 %).

Russian Railways launches new container train service on China – Mongolia – Russia routeRussian Railways (RZD) in cooperation with SWIFT Transport International Logistic Co. has launched the first container train from China to the European part of Russia, via Mongolia.

The train composed of 57 conventional wagons loaded with consumer goods, electric equipment and car parts traveled from Tianjin Port to Vorsino railway station in Kaluga region.

The lead time, including Ereen-Zamin-Uud (China-Mongolia) and Sükhbaatar-Naushki (Mongolia -Russia) border crossings, is 10 days.

TransContainer is the provider of flatcars and containers for this services.

The project aims to develop economic cooperation between Russia, China and Mongolia, in framework of Eurasia’s Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

SWIFT Transport International Logistic Co., Ltd was founded in August 2007 in Tianjin. The company specializes in the import and export of containerized cargo between the countries of Southeast Asia and Russia and manages its own 6,000 TEU container fleet.

In the first half of 2015 the turnover of OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” increased by 5%In January-October 2016, Russian seaports handled 594.2 mln t of cargo (+5.7%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 277.7 mln t (+7.6%) including:
113.5 mln t of coal (+11.9%),
35.2 mln t of containerized cargo (+6.1%),
23.7 mln t of ferrous metal (+7.3%),
28.2 mln t of grain (+1.6%),
18.9 mln t of cargo carried by ferries (+3.3%),
7.2 mln t of ore (+ 30.2%),
4.5 mln t of timber (+3.0%),
3.7 mln t of ro-ro cargo (up 1.8 times),
13.2 mln t of chemical fertilizers (-0.2%).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo increased by 4.1% to 316.5 mln t including
187.1 mln t of crude oil (+11.6%),
115.4 mln t of oil products (-6.1%)
11 mln t of liquefied gas (+4.6%).
Transshipment of export cargo totaled 468.4 mln t (+5%), import – 26 mln t (-2.9%), transit – 41.3 mln t (+4.2%), coastal trade cargo – 58.5 mln t (+22.6%).

3 years since the launch of Container Block Train “Ust-Luga Express”

Container block train service "Ust-Luga Express" celebrates 2-year anniversaryNavigator Logistics and Navigator Forwarding Companies are celebrate the 3rd birthday of its “Ust-Luga Express” Service. “Ust-Luga Express” Service – is Express Container Block Train running between the Port of Ust-Luga – Moscow – Port of Ust-Luga with fixed weekly schedule, 2 times a week. Regular weekly Container Block Train “Ust-Luga Express” was launched on October 26, 2013. Since the beginning of this year, “Ust-Luga Express” has done 120 voyages, which is 30% more compared from the same period of 2015.

The specialists of company are constantly developing the service and make it more convenient and functional for clients. So from February 2015 “Ust-Luga Express” clients an opportunity to send dangerous goods to the station Vorsino; form October 2015 stood up to a weekly schedule second train in a week; from April 2016, was increased the maximum weight of the cargo, accepted for carriage, to 34.5 tons.

Points of departure and arrival of the Container Block Train “Ust-Luga Express” are selected in such a way as to ensure fast and timely delivery of goods between the two largest cities in the Russian Federation, St. Petersburg (Port of Ust-Luga) and Moscow (Vorsino station in the Kaluga region, multimodal transport -logistical terminal Freight Village Vorsino).

Port of Ust-Luga – modern, deep, ice-free port of international importance, located 70 km from the Estonian border and 150 km from St. Petersburg, which has the largest cargo turnover among Baltic Sea ports.

Multimodal transport and logistics terminal Freight Village Vorsino – it is a unique project to create a logistics infrastructure of the new European format in Russia, included in the general scheme of development of the Moscow railway junction, as well as the list of terminals on the distribution of freight flows from Moscow. The project is also an integral part of the “New Silk Road” from China, which can deliver goods in the direction of the Central Federal District of Russia and Europe. FV Vorsino – Freight federal format village, located on the border of New Moscow and Kaluga region, along the federal highway M3 Moscow-Kiev, 67 km from MKAD.

Commercial maintenance of the train is held by the Freight Forwarding Company «Navigator LOGISTICS» LLC. Operator of block train «Ust-Luga Express» is an «Navigator FORWARDING» LLC company.

Russian seaports' eight-month throughput rises 5.7% to 468.5 million tonnesIn January-September 2016, Russian seaports handled 531.7 mln t of cargo (+5.7%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 248.7 mln t (+7.8%) including:

101.9 mln t of coal (+12%),

31.4 mln t of containerized cargo (+4.8%),

21.5 mln t of ferrous metal (+8.5%),

24.3 mln t of grain (+2.1%),

17.1 mln t of cargo carried by ferries (+3.6%),

6.5 mln t of ore (+ 30.6%),

4.1 mln t of timber (+2.5%),

3.9 mln t of ro-ro cargo (up 1.8 times).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo increased by 3.9% to 283 mln t including

162.9 mln t of crude oil (+8.5%),

107.8 mln t of oil products (-2.4%)

9.7 mln t of liquefied gas (+3.5%).

Transshipment of export cargo totaled 420.4 mln t (+5.2%), import – 23.4 mln t (-6.1%), transit – 36.3 mln t (+0.5%), coastal trade cargo – 51.6 mln t (+21.4%).

First container train dispatched by Primorje-1 transit corridor

First container train dispatched by Primorje-1 transit corridorThe first transit container train running by the international transport corridor Primorje-1 has been dispatched today, 30 September 2016, from the border railway station Grodekovo, says press center of Russian Railways OJSC. Primorje-1 links Chinese province Heilongjiang with the ports of the Primorsk Territory.

The train numbers 62 forty-foot containers (124 TEUs) with sawn timber. Large capacity containers will be delivered to port Vostochny in 2 days and then will be transported by sea to the ports of Shanghai and Huangpu.

Earlier, transit containers were transport by this route in small batches. 282 TEUs were delivered to Primorye ports in 2015. In the 8-month period of 2016, 714 TEUs were delivered to the port of Vladivostok and 156 TEUs – to port Vostochny.

Chinese partners count on regular shipments by Primorje-1 route – two container trains per week – one to Nakhodka and one to Vladivostok. According to the forecasts, 500,000 t of cargo can be transported in 2017 with over RUB 50 mln of additional income.

The second transit container train will be dispatched to Vladivostok in the nearest time.

CDiRS launches the first rail service China-Netherlands

CDiRS launches the first rail service China-NetherlandsThe first rail shuttle between China and the Netherlands has been launched. The service was launched by the Chinese rail operator CDiRS in June, and now the Chengdu-Tilburg-Rotterdam-Express is in full operation, the Port of Rotterdam Authority said in a media release. At the moment, this is a weekly service, however, the ambition of CDiRS and its Dutch partner, RailPortbrabant, part of the GVT Group, is to run the service five times a week as of late next year.

The Chengdu-Tilburg-Rotterdam-Express reaches its destination ‘door-to-door’ in 15 days and crosses Kazakhstan and Moscow. Chengdu offers railway connections to Chinese cities, such as Shanghai, Ningbo, Wuhan, Yiwu, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Nanning and Kunming, as well as to Vietnam and South Korea. “Cargo from China is often shipped by sea, short sea, from the port of Rotterdam to the UK, Scandinavia and Portugal,” said Roland Verbraak, General Manager at GVT Group of Logistics.

Russian seaports' eight-month throughput rises 5.7% to 468.5 million tonnesIn January-August 2016 Russian ports handled 468.5 million tones of cargo, which represents a 5.7-percent growth on the same period of 2015, Rosmorrechflot said.

The increase was driven primarily by a 9% and 3% gain in dry bulk and liquid bulk segments to 218.3 million and 250.2 million tonnes, accordingly.

Freight throughput at the sea ports of the Arctic basin was 30 mln t (+ 28.3%) including 17.5  mln t of dry cargo (+ 9%) and 12.5 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+ 71%).

Cargo handling at sea ports of the Baltic Sea reached 155.2 mln t (+ 2.1%) including 58.26 mln t of dry cargo (+ 1%) and 97 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+ 3%).

Freight traffic at the sea ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin totaled 157.9 mln t (+ 4.7%) including 67.6 mln t of dry cargo (+ 12%) and 90.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (- 0.3%).

However, the seaports of the Caspian basin handled 3.7 mln t (- 19.6 %) including 1.8 mln t of dry cargo (- 14%) and 1.9 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (- 24.2%).

Handling of outbound, inbound and transit cargo at the seaports of the Far Eastern basin rose to 121.5 mln t (+ 8.1%) including 73.1 mln t of dry cargo (+ 14%) and 48.4 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+ 1%).

There was first container train dispatch on route of the Big Port of St. Petersburg – Vorsino stationThe 3th of September, 2016 the «Navigator FORWARDING» LLC company together with the “Port Express” company provided the first container train dispatch from the station Avtovo (Container terminal Saint-Petersburg) to Vorsino station (multimodal transport & logistics center of federal format “Freight Village Vorsino”). Forty-six 40’ loaded containers were transported. Remarkable fact is that the transportation was carried out in the customs transit regime, upon arrival of a container train at the Vorsino station, containers were placed in a zone of the customs control of customs posts Obninsk, Kaluga Customs (WTS “CCF North” LLC), which is a part of the Multimodal Complex Freight Village Vorsino.

Transit time amounted to 42 hours.

The current economic situation requires a search for additional solutions, one of which is the new routes of container trains. Container throughput of Russian seaports down 1,2% to 2,27 mln TEU in Jan-Jul’16Total container turnover in Russian seaports in 7 month of 2016 decreased by 1.2% year-on-year to 2.27 million TEU.

Export containers amounted to 949,1 thou TEU, including loaded export 616,2 thou TEU (+12,5%), empty – 332,9 thou TEU (-22,7%);

import — 961,2 thou TEU (+1,1%);

transit — 25,6 thou TEU (-46,8%);

cabotage — 338,2 thousand TEU (+4,5 %).

The container throughput in the ports in the Baltic basin in reporting period increased by 2,9% to 1,17 mln TEU, including loaded export – 401,8 thou TEU (-9,8%), empty – 169 thou TEU (-17,1%), import – 600 thou TEU (+5,6%), cabotage – 60 TEU. The container turnover in Big Port St. Petersburg amounted to 1,02 mln TEU (+2,4%), port of Ust-Luga – 45,1 thou TEU (-6,9%), Kaliningrad – 102,5 thou TEU (+14%).
