Throughput of Russian seaports down 2.8% to 52.9 mln t in Jan'16In January 2016, Russian seaports handled 52.9 mln t of cargo (-2.8%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 21.7 mln t (-3.8%) including 8.5 mln t of coal (-11.6%), 3.0 mln t of containerized cargo (-2.6%), 2.2 mln t of ferrous metal (-4.9%), 1.8 mln t of grain (-6.1%) 0.2 mln t of metal scrap (-33.6%). Transshipment of cargo carried by ferries climbed to 1.6 mln t (+16.2%), mineral fertilizers – to 1.4 mln t (+13.0%), ore – to 0.6 mln t (up 2.4 times), timber – to 0.5 mln t (+12.2%), non-ferrous metal – to 0.3 mln t (+19.7%), reefer cargo – to 0.2 mln t (+26.0%).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 31.2 mln t (-2.1%) including 11.4 mln t of oil products (-9.8%), 18.2 mln t of crude oil (+3.3%) and 1.2 mln t of liquefied gas (+4.1%).

Transshipment of export cargo totaled 43.0 mln t (-3.7%), imports – 2.2 mln t (-9.2%), transit – 4.2 mln t (+7.1%), coastal trade cargo – 3.4 mln t (+1.8%).

Operators of the Arctic Basin terminals handled 2.9 mln t (+4.3%, year-on-year) including 1.8 mln t of dry cargo (+1.9%) and 1.0 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+9.1%). The port of Murmansk handled 1.8 mln t (+11.1%), Varandei – 0.6 mln t (+12.7%), Arkhangelsk – 0.3 mln t (-29.9%), Dudinka – 0.1 mln t (-16.0%).

The ports of the Baltic Basin handled 18.4 mln t (-3.9%) including 6.2 mln t of dry cargo (-8.6%), 12.2 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-1.2%). Big Port St. Petersburg handled 3.7 mln t (-9.6%), Primorsk – 5.1 mln t (-6.2%), Vysotsk – 1.2 mln t (-10.5%), Kaliningrad – 1.0 mln t (-12.0%), Ust-Luga – 7.3 mln t (+3.9%).

Throughput of Azov – Black Sea ports climbed to 17.5 mln t (-4.8%) including 11.2 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-7.9%) and 6.2 mln t of dry cargo (+1.2%). The port of Novorossiysk handled 11.0 mln t (-1.1%), Tuapse – 2.2 mln t (-8.5%), Kavkaz – 1.3 mln t (-12.2%), Taman – 0.7 mln t (-27.0%), Azov – 0.3 mln t (-12.3%), Rostov – 0.7 mln t (+10.2%), Kerch – 0.5 mln t (+8.3%).

The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 0.6 mln t of cargo (+2.0%) including 0.3 mln t of dry cargo (+2.8%) and 0.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+1.2%). The port of Astrakhan handled 0.2 mln t of cargo (+10.7%), Makhachkala – 0.3 mln t (-0.3%), Olya – down 2.4 times.

The ports of Far East Basin handled 13.6 mln t (-0.2%) including 7.2 mln t of dry cargo (-5.1%) and 6.4 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+5.9%). The port of Vanino handled 2.0 mln t (-12.8%), Prigorodnoye –1.5 mln t (-0.4%), Vladivostok – 1.0 mln t (-6.7%), Vostochny – 5.2 mln t (+1.6%), Nakhodka – 1.7 mln t (+10.0%), De-Castri –1.0 mln t (+24.9%), Posiet – 0.6 mln t (+6.2%).

Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
