Throughput of Russian seaports in Jan-Feb’16

In January-February 2016, Russian seaports handled 105.9 mln t of cargo (+2.7%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.

Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 45.6 mln t (+8.0%) including 18.1 mln t of coal (+5.5%), 6.3 mln t of containerized cargo (+2.4%), 4.4 mln t of ferrous metal (+0.1%), 4.4 mln t of grain (+34.3%), 3.3 mln t of  cargo carried by ferries  (+26.2%), 2.5 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+11.3%), 1.1 mln t of ore (up 1.9 times), 0.9 mln t of timber (+5.8%), 0.6 mln t of non-ferrous metal (+16.3%), 0.5 mln t of reefer cargo (+8.5%) and 0.5 mln t of metal scrap (-35.9%).

Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 60.3 mln t (-1.0%) including 22.1 mln t of oil products (-9.0%), 2.0 mln t of liquefied gas (-11.8%) and 35.6 mln t of crude oil (+5.6%).

Transshipment of export cargo totaled 85.9 mln t (+1.8%), import – 4.5 mln t (-5.0%), transit – 8.1 mln t (+6.5%), coastal trade cargo – 7.3 mln t (+15.7%).

Throughput of Russian seaports in Jan-Feb'16Operators of the Arctic Basin terminals handled 6.3 mln t o cargo (+16.5%, year-on-year) including 3.8 mln t of dry cargo (+7.3%) and 2.5 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+34.0%).

The port of Murmansk handled 4.0 mln t of cargo (+20.6%), Varandei – 1.2 mln t (+20.0%), Arkhangelsk – 0.6 mln t (-17.6%).

The ports of the Baltic Basin handled 36.7 mln t (+0.7%) including 23.9 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+2.2%) and 12.8 mln t of dry cargo (-2.0%). The port of Ust-Luga handled 14.4 mln t (+5.9%), Primorsk – 10.3 mln t (+4.7%), Big Port St. Petersburg – 7.5 mln t (-7.0%), Vysotsk – 2.3 mln t (-10.2%), Kaliningrad – 2.0 mln t (-7.7%).

Throughput of Azov – Black Sea ports climbed to 35.0 mln t (+0.9%) including 13.4 mln t of dry cargo (+17.0%) and 21.6 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-7.1%). Operators of seaport Novorossiysk handled 21.9 mln t (+2.9%), Rostov – 1.3 mln t (+9.0%), Kerch – 1.1 mln t (+28.1%), Azov – 0.8 mln t (+31.7%), Yeisk – 0.5 mln t (+11.8%), Tuapse – 3.8 mln t (-11.5%), Kavkaz – 2.7 mln t (-7.0%), Taman – 1.9 mln t (-2.9%).

The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 1.2 mln t (-1.7%) including 0.6 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-11.8%) and 0.6 mln t of dry cargo (+10.0%). Throughput of port Astrakhan increased by 26.9% до 0.5 mln t, Makhachkala – down 13.3% to 0.6 mln t, Olya – down 2.5 times.

The ports of Far East Basin handled 26.8 mln t (+5.3%) including 15.0 mln t of dry cargo (+10.1%) and 11.8 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (no changes year-on-year). Port Vostochny handled 10.0 mln t (+1.5%), Vanino – 4.3 mln t (+15.8%), Nakhodka – 3.6 mln t (+15.7%), De-Castri – 1.9 mln t (+16.9%), Posiet – 1.3 mln t (+29.6%), Prigorodnoye – 2.4 mln t (-13.9%), Vladivostok – 2.0 mln t (-1.3%).

Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
