In January – September 2017, Russian seaports handled 580.2 mln t of cargo (+9%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 272 mln t (+9.3%) including:
115.6 mln t of coal (+13.4%),
35.4 mln t of containerized cargo (+13%),
31.1 mln t of grain (+26.9%),
20.8 mln t of ferrous metal (-3.3%),
12.7 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+7.2%),
2.2 mln t refrigerated cargo (-1.8%).
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo increased by 8.8% to 308.2 mln t including:
188.6 mln t of crude oil (+13.7%),
105.8 mln t of oil products (+0.7%),
10.5 mln t of liquefied gas (+8.8%).
Export totaled cargo handled 447.6 mln t (+6.4%), imports – 26.7 mln t (+15.4%), transit – 42.8 mln t (+17.3%), short-sea shipping – 62.9 mln t (+21.5%).
Total container turnover of Russian seaports for 9 month of 2017 increased by 15.9% year-on-year to 3.4 mln TEU, including imports — 1.45 mln TEU (+17.9%), loading export – 855.68 thou TEU (+9.2%), empty export – 556.87 thou TEU (+29.2), short-sea traffic — 500.3 thou TEU (+9.1%), transit — 56 thou TEU (+17.9%).
In reporting period refrigerated containers handled 326.5 thou TEU of which import – 252.2 thou TEU, short-sea shipping – 500.26 thou TEU, export – 29.8 thou TEU, transit – 48.03 thou TEU.
Basin specification:
Operators of the Arctic Basin terminals handled 54.4 mln t of cargo (+56.3%, year-on-year) including 32.8 mln t of liquid bilk cargo (up in 1.2 times) and 21.6 mln t of dry cargo (+9.2%). Throughput of port of Murmansk amounted 38.1 mln t (+64.9%), Varandei – 6.4 mln t (+7.2%), Sabetta – 5.35 mln t (up in 3.4 times), Arkhangelsk – 1.77 mln t (-17.6%), Dudinka – 0.92 mln t (+3.2%), Kandalaksha – 1.11 mln t (up in 2.2 times).
Container turnover in ports of Arctic Basin in reporting period up 1.2% to 109.09 thou TEU, from which is the main part it’s a short-sea shipping – 106.62 thou TEU (+6.2%), loading export – 481 TEU (+2.1%), empty export – 471 TEU (-85.5%), import – 1.51 thou TEU.
The ports of the Baltic Basin for 9 month handled 184.37 mln t (+5.3%) including 76.8 mln t of dry cargo (+16.3%) and 107.5 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-1.4%). The port of Ust-Luga handled 76.03 mln t (+10.9%), Primorsk – 44.6 mln t (-7.6%), Big Port St. Petersburg – 39.4 mln t (+9.6%), Vysotsk – 12.9 mln t (+2.7%).
The container turnover in Jan-Sep 2017 in ports of Baltic Basin increased by 11% to 1.67 mln TEU, including loaded export – 541.69 thou TEU (+5.2%), empty export – 278.03 thou TEU (+27%), import – 851.36 thou TEU (+10.4%), short-sea shipping – 1 TEU (-99.3%). Container turnover of Big Port St. Petersburg up 9.6% to 1.43 mln TEU, port of Ust-Luga – 56.84 thou TEU (-8%), Kaliningrad – 186.25 thou TEU (+32.7%).
For Jan-Sep of 2017 seaports of Azov – Black Sea Basin handled 194.7 mln t (+8.3) including 83.1 mln t of dry cargo (+7.1%) and 111.6 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+9.1%). Increased the volume of cargo handling operators of port of Novorossiysk to 107.4 mln t (+11.1%), Tuapse – 19.9 mln t (+6.8%), Kavkaz – 25.4 mln t (+3.8%), Taman – 10.9 mln t (+14.6%), Rostov-on-Don – 10.3 mln t (+4.4%), Azov – 5.24 mln t (+8.3%), Taganrog – 2.06 mln (+19.3%), Gelendzhik – 0.11 mln t (up in 2 times). Throughput of Crimea seaport for 9 month 2017 decreased by 8.6% to 7.87 mln t, which is Kerch – 6.5 mln t (-9.1%), Sevastopol – 0.96 mln t (-9.3%).
Container turnover in ports of Azov – Black Sea basin amounted 538.35 thou TEU (+15.3%), including loading export – 151.08 thou TEU (+9%), empty export – 117.95 thou TEU (+20.4%), import – 257.88 thou TEU (+17.3%), short-sea shipping – 10.75 thou TEU (+6.3%), transit – 689 TEU (up to 3.1 times). The reefer container handled 77.4 thou TEU which of in import direction – 76.1 thou TEU, in export direction – 1.27 thou TEU. Container turnover in port of Novorossiysk up to 526.9 thou TEU (+15.6%), Azov – 5.44 thou TEU (+24%), Sevastopol – 5.16 thou TEU (+2.2%), Kavkaz – 0.8 thou TEU, Rostov-on-Don – 0.05 thou TEU (-94.4%).
The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 2.7 mln t of cargo (-36.5) including 1.9 mln t of dry cargo (-9.5%) and 0.8 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-63.8%). Throughput of port of Makhachkala down 59.7% to 0.9 mln t, Astrakhan to 1.6 mln t (-9.6%), Olya port – 168 thou t (+32.4%).
Container turnover of the Caspian Basin in January – September 2017 amounted 1.66 thou TEU (+11.1%), including loading export – 627 TEU (+44.5), empty export – 78 TEU (-64.2%), import – 685 TEU (+17.3%), short-sea shipping – 274 TEU (+4.2%).
The ports of Far East Basin up to 143.9 mln t (+4.4%) including 88.4 mln t of dry cargoes (+6.3%) and 55.5 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+1.4%). Port Vostochny handled 51.5 mln t (+1.1%), Vanino – 22.1 mln t (-2.6%), Nakhodka – 18.2 mln t (+4.5%), Prigorodnoye – 12.7 mln t (+9.1%), Vladivostok – 12.4 mln t (+19%), De-Castri – 8.5 mln t (-0.3%), Posiet – 5.7 mln t (-5.5%).
The Far East Basin ports container throughput in reporting period increased by 26.7% to 1.09 mln TEU, including loading export – 161.8 thou TEU (+24.9%), empty export – 160.34 thou TEU (45.2%), import – 335.96 thou TEU (+44.3%), transit – 47.34 thou TEU (+22.8%), short-sea shipping – 382.61 thou TEU (+10%).
Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
