In January – May 2017, Russian seaports handled 320 mln t of cargo (+11.6%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 143.5 mln t (+10.7%) including:
61.4 mln t of coal (+17.8%),
19.6 mln t of containerized cargo (+14.3%),
14.1 mln t of grain (+23.3%),
12.3 mln t of ferrous metal (+0.7%),
7 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+3.5%),
1.2 mln t refrigerated cargo (-1.4%).
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo increased by 12.4% to 176.5 mln t including
108.3 mln t of crude oil (+16.2%),
59.9 mln t of oil products (+5.5%),
6.3 mln t of liquefied gas (+13.9%).
Export totaled 250.7 mln t (+8.3%), imports – 14.2 mln t (+11.5%), transit – 23.7 mln t (+15.3%), short-sea traffic – 31.4 mln t (+43.5%).
Total container turnover of Russian seaports in January-May of 2017 increased by 14.3% year-on-year to 1.9 mln TEU, including imports — 796 thou TEU (+16.3%), export – 781 thou TEU (+13%), transit — 23.2 thou TEU (+16.3%), short-sea traffic — 258 thou TEU (+12%).
Basin specification:
Operators of the Arctic Basin terminals handled 29.8 mln t of cargo (+69.7%, year-on-year) including 18.1 mln t of liquid bilk cargo (up in 2.7 times) and 11 mln t of dry cargo (+9.7%). The port of Murmansk handled 21 mln t (+80.6%), Varandei – 3.7 mln t (+12.2%), Sabetta – 2.15 mln t (up in 4.4 times), Arkhangelsk – 1.8 mln t (+37.7%), Dudinka – 0.52 mln t (+4.7%), Kandalaksha – 0.46 mln t (up in 2 times).
Container turnover in ports of Arctic Basin in reporting period up 5.5% to 58.8 thou TEU, including short-sea traffic – 58 thou TEU (+9.9%), import – 0.057 thou TEU (-67.8%), export – 0.019 thou TEU (-31.8%). Container turnover in port of Murmansk in January – May 2017 amounted 19.8 thou TEU (+6.1%), Dudinka – 23.4 thou TEU (+5.7%), Arkhangelsk – 15.6 thou TEU (+6.4%).
The ports of the Baltic Basin for 5 month handled 104.6 mln t (+7.3%) including 40.9 mln t of dry cargo (+13.9%) and 63.7 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+3.4%). The port of Ust-Luga handled 42 mln t (+11.6%), Primorsk – 27.4 mln t (+0.1%), Big Port St. Petersburg – 21.4 mln t (+7.3%), Vysotsk – 7.7 mln t (+15.1%), Kaliningrad – 5.41 mln t (+3%), Viborg – 0.5 mln t (+10%).
The container turnover in reporting period in ports of Baltic Basin increased by 8.3% to 913.1 thou TEU, including laden export – 297 thou TEU (+3%), empty export – 148.7 thou TEU (+16.2%), import – 467.4 thou TEU (+9.5%). Container turnover of Big Port St. Petersburg up 6.9% to 789.9 thou TEU, port of Ust-Luga – 30 thou TEU (-4.8%), Kaliningrad – 93.2 thou TEU (+28.2%).
For 5 month of 2017 seaports of Azov – Black Sea Basin handled 103.9 mln t (+10.3%) including 41.9 mln t of dry cargo (+9.3%) and 62 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+11%). Increased the volume of cargo handling operators of port of Novorossiysk – 61 mln t (+10.5%), Tuapse – 11.3 mln t (+8.4%), Kavkaz – 9.8 mln t (+8.7%), Taman – 6.4 mln t (+25.4%), Rostov-on-Don – 4.9 mln t (+8.2%), Kerch – 3.5 mln t (+6.9%), Azov – 3.11 mln t (+5.1%).
Container turnover in ports of Azov – Black Sea basin amounted 330.7 thou TEU (+14.6%), including export – 165.3 thou TEU, import – 159.9 thou TEU (+14.9%), transit – 0.32 thou TEU (up to 3.1 times), cabotage – 5.2 thou TEU (+6.8%). Container throughput of port of Novorossiysk amounted 324.7 thou TEU (+14.9%), Azov – 3.2 thou TEU (+30.9%), Sevastopol port – 2.5 thou TEU (+4%).
The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 1.3 mln t of cargo (-46.9) including 7 mln t of dry cargo (-24.8%) and 0.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-69.7%). Throughput of port of Makhachkala down 71.3% to 0.4 mln t, Astrakhan to 0.9 mln t (-16%), Olya port – 66.9 thou t (-19.2%).
Container turnover of the Caspian Basin in January – May 2017 amounted 1086 TEU (+12.3%), including export – 472 TEU, import – 414 TEU (+15%), cabotage – 199 TEU (+43.2%). The Astrakhan ports container throughput increased by 13.6% to 1081 TEU.
The ports of Far East Basin handled 80.3 mln t (+7.3%) including 48 mln t of dry cargoes (+10.5%) and 32.2 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+2.8%). Port Vostochny handled 29.4 mln t (+7.6%), Vanino – 12.3 mln t (-0.6%), Nakhodka – 10.4 mln t (+7.7%), Prigorodnoye – 7.6 mln t (+11.3%), Vladivostok – 6.7 mln t (+18.6%), De-Castri – 5.1 mln t (-2.2%), Posiet – 3.3 mln t (-2.2%).
The Far East Basin ports container throughput in reporting period increased by 26.8% to 554.7 thou TEU, including laden export – 91.1 thou TEU (+29.1%), empty export – 77.98 thou TEU (+35.3%), import – 168.1 thou TEU (+44.1%), transit – 22.9 thou TEU (+15.3%), cabotage – 194.7 thou TEU (+12.7%). Container turnover in port of Vladivostok amounted 305.5 thou TEU (+33.7%), Port Vostochny – 144.5 thou TEU (+24.5%), Korsakov port – 49.3 thou TEU (+16.6%).
Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
