In January – June 2017, Russian seaports handled 384 mln t of cargo (+11.3%, year-on-year), says the press center of Association of Commercial Sea Ports.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 174 mln t (+10.8%) including:
75.1 mln t of coal (+16.2%),
23.7 mln t of containerized cargo (+14.2%),
16.1 mln t of grain (+32.1%),
14.6 mln t of ferrous metal (+0.1%),
8.5 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+4.8%),
1.4 mln t refrigerated cargo (-4.8%).
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo increased by 11.8% to 210 mln t including:
128.9 mln t of crude oil (+16%),
71.6 mln t of oil products (+4.6%),
7.1 mln t of liquefied gas (+10.4%).
Export totaled 298.7 mln t (+8%), imports – 17.3 mln t (+13%), transit – 28.8 mln t (+17.4%), short-sea shipping – 39 mln t (+37.5%).
Total container turnover of Russian seaports in January-June of 2017 increased by 15.3% year-on-year to 2.26 mln TEU, including imports — 971.57 thou TEU (+17.3%), export – 952.06 thou TEU (+15%), transit — 27.01 thou TEU (+12.8%), short-sea traffic — 311.88 thou TEU (+10.5%).
Reefer container turnover in reporting period amounted 244.27 thou TEU, which is import direction – 198.76 thou TEU, export – 17.66 thou TEU, short-sea shipping – 27.82 thou TEU.
Basin specification:
Operators of the Arctic Basin terminals handled 36.1 mln t of cargo (+68.3%, year-on-year) including 22.2 mln t of liquid bilk cargo (up in 1.5 times) and 13.9 mln t of dry cargo (+7.9%). The port of Murmansk handled 25.6 mln t (+78.6%), Varandei – 4.4 mln t (+10.2%), Sabetta – 2.69 mln t (up in 4.5 times), Arkhangelsk – 2.03 mln t (+33.4%), Dudinka – 0.59 mln t (+4.7%), Kandalaksha – 0.59 mln t (up in 2 times).
Container turnover in ports of Arctic Basin in reporting period up 2.3% to 66.7 thou TEU, including short-sea shipping – 65.7 thou TEU (+6.7%), import – 645 TEU (-69.7%), export – 336 TEU (-9.9%). Container turnover in port of Murmansk in reporting period amounted 21.61 thou TEU (+0.6%), Dudinka – 25.78 thou TEU (+0.6%), Arkhangelsk – 17.82 thou TEU (+6%).
The ports of the Baltic Basin for 6 month handled 124.6 mln t (+6.9%) including 49.9 mln t of dry cargo (+15.2%) and 74.7 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+2%). The port of Ust-Luga handled 50.9 mln t (+13.5%), Primorsk – 31.3 mln t (-3.6%), Big Port St. Petersburg – 26 mln t (+7.5%), Vysotsk – 9.1 mln t (+9.9%), Kaliningrad – 6.60 mln t (+4%), Viborg – 0.608 mln t (+3%).
The container turnover in Jan-Jun 2017 in ports of Baltic Basin increased by 9.5% to 1.1 mln TEU, including laden export – 356.9 thou TEU (+2.7%), empty export – 185.8 thou TEU (+23.8%), import – 565.7 thou TEU (+10%), short-sea shipping – 1 TEU. Container turnover of Big Port St. Petersburg up 7.7% to 953.9 thou TEU, port of Ust-Luga – 35.7 thou TEU (-5.5%), Kaliningrad – 118.8 thou TEU (+33.7%).
For 6 month of 2017 seaports of Azov – Black Sea Basin handled 125.8 mln t (+11.1) including 50.8 mln t of dry cargo (+11.2%) and 75 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+11%). Increased the volume of cargo handling operators of port of Novorossiysk – 72.8 mln t (+11.2%), Tuapse – 13.4 mln t (+9.2%), Kavkaz – 13.4 mln t (+10.5%), Taman – 7.5 mln t (+27.4%), Rostov-on-Don – 6 mln t (+10.2%), Kerch – 4.3 mln t (+2.7%), Azov – 3.8 mln t (+3.5%).
Container turnover in ports of Azov – Black Sea basin amounted 402.5 thou TEU (+17.3%), including laden export – 109.5 thou TEU (+14%), empty export – 91.9 thou TEU (+21.3%), import – 194.1 thou TEU (+17.5%), transit – 470 TEU (up to 3.4 times), short-sea shipping – 6.6 thou TEU (+11.6%).
The ports of the Caspian Basin handled 1.7 mln t of cargo (-41.1) including 1.2 mln t of dry cargo (-16.3%) and 0.5 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (-65.5%). Throughput of port of Makhachkala down 65.4% to 0.5 mln t, Astrakhan to 1 mln t (-10.5%), Olya port – 85.5 thou t (-4.7%).
Container turnover of the Caspian Basin in January – June 2017 amounted 1.21 thou TEU (+7.6%), including laden export – 462 TEU (+38.3), empty export – 60 TEU (-69.1%), import – 483 TEU (+9.8%), short-sea shipping – 212 TEU (+29.3%).
The ports of Far East Basin handled 95.7 mln t (+5.4%) including 58.1 mln t of dry cargoes (+8.1%) and 37.6 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+1.5%). Port Vostochny handled 34.8 mln t (+5.6%), Vanino – 14.9 mln t (-2.2%), Nakhodka – 12.3 mln t (+5%), Prigorodnoye – 8.6 mln t (+7.2%), Vladivostok – 8 mln t (+16.9%), De-Castri – 6.1 mln t (-1.8%), Posiet – 4 mln t (-1.4%).
The Far East Basin ports container throughput in reporting period increased by 26.4% to 683.6 thou TEU, including laden export – 110 thou TEU (+26.8%), empty export – 96.97 thou TEU (+38.5%), import – 210.7 thou TEU (+44.6%), transit – 26.5 thou TEU (+11.5%), short-sea shipping – 239.4 thou TEU (+11.6%). Container turnover in port of Vladivostok amounted 381.4 thou TEU (+34%), Port Vostochny – 174.4 thou TEU (+22.8%), Korsakov port – 60 thou TEU (+14.7%), Zarubino – 0.5 thou TEU (+24.3%).
Association of Commercial Sea Ports (ASOP) set up in 1987 unites over 50 organizations and enterprises of Russia’s maritime transport. ASOP comprises commercial seaports, forwarding and agency companies, scientific research institutes and marine educational institutions. Operational results of Russian port sector are based on statistics reports and cover all stevedoring companies operating in the Russian Federation.
