Description of the cargo:
The transportation was non-standard, which was a result of its original conditions:
- A large shipment of bulky freight from Rotterdam;
- The organization of transshipment and customs clearance for 3079 tons of oversized cargo;
- The delivery of 26-meter sheet piling ‘to the door’ and its unloading at the Consignee.
The transportation of bulky cargo is always associated with difficulties due to the fact that there are no ready-made standard solutions for it. In this case, the length of the cargo did not allow for the unloading of the cargo on any available berth, so the employees of our company carefully checked the preparatory work for the proper planning of the entire process of the upcoming operation in advance, which, because of the necessity of using land transport, belonged to the category of ‘multimodal transport’ and included:
- The development of a scheme of delivery;
- The reception and processing of the ship at a suitable terminal in St. Petersburg;
- Unloading from the motor vessel to the terminal;
- Customs clearance;
- Loading onto the truck;
- Delivery to the facility and unloading at the customer’s facility.
