The helicopter flight simulator is a complete replica of the cockpit of a real helicopter with the standard operational controls and equipment. The cockpit is placed on a movable platform inside a spherical projection screen.
The disassembled simulator was located in several boxes, some of which exceeded the standard dimensions. The maximum dimensions of the box were 5.7×5.15×3.9 meters. Therefore, the delivery was classified as “transportation of oversized cargo”.
BOTH MARINE AND ROAD TRANSPORT WERE INVOLVED IN THIS CARGO TRANSPORTATION.
At the port of departure in St. Petersburg, 8 loaded vehicles arrived: 6 with standard boxes and 2 with oversized boxes. In the port, the standard boxes were loaded onto trailers and the oversized boxes were loaded onto ‘mafiks’ (roll trailers, taking their name form MAFI, which proposed the use of these low-bed trailers with rubberized metal wheels). They were then placed on the DFDS company ferry, operating regular passages along the following route: St. Petersburg – Ust-Luga – Klaipeda – Kiel.
In Germany, the boxes with roll trailers were reloaded onto low loader special trailers, and the boxes in truck trailers continued to their destination without reloading. For the transportation of non-standard cargo, in both Russia and the European Union, the relevant permits for road services were obtained, and the non-standard cargo escorted by police cars.
The delivery of the cargo was carried out without any comments from the customer and exactly on time.
