The bulk of work on construction of facilities at Multipurpose Sea Cargo Complex Bronka (MSCC Bronka, Saint-Petersburg) is supposed to be completed by 2018. According to the official website of Saint-Petersburg Administration, this was announced by Aleksei Shukletsov, Executive Director of Fenix LLC (Bronka project investor) at the meeting held in Smolny on March 22, 2016. The meeting chaired by Igor Albin, Vice-Governor of Saint-Petersburg, was dedicated to implementation of Bronka project.
When reporting on the project implementation, Aleksei Shukletsov told about the concept developed by Fenix LLC and including five phases of the port development. The first two phases imply the development of territories for a container terminal, ro-ro terminal, entry zone and railways. Most of the facilities were put into operation in 2015 with the rest to be put into op in late 2016 – early 2017.
Other phases imply the construction of two berths (two-side pier) for ro-ro ships, a multi-purpose berth, a land pier for flat-top barges, freight station for roll trailers, open storage grounds, southern railway yard and infrastructure for storing of bulk cargo.
Finally, a logistic complex will be created beyond the limits of the customs point. It will comprise infrastructure facilities for storing of bulk cargo, depot for empty containers, a facility for repair of containers.
MSCC Bronka is primarily intended for handling of imported containers. It is among the strategic investment project under implementation in Saint-Petersburg. The project is to improve Baltic logistics when it comes to Russia’ foreign trade involving non-CIS countries, says the statement of Saint-Petersburg Administration.
Multipurpose Sea Cargo Complex “Bronka” (MSCC Bronka) is being built on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland, where the Dam and the Ring Road border the territory of Lomonosov. The Bronka Complex will comprise three specialized facilities: a container terminal encompassing 107 hectares, the Ro-Ro terminal of 57 ha and a logistics center of 42 ha. Container terminal will have a 1,220 m-long quay wall (including 5 berths). The length of Ro-Ro terminal’s dock line will be 710 meters (3 berths). After completion of Bronka Phase 1 its capacity will reach 1.45 million TEUs and 260,000 units of Ro-Ro cargoes. In future the MSCC Bronka expansion will help increase the facility’s container throughput to 1.9 million TEUs. Upon completion of the port’s construction and dredging to the design mark of 14.4 meters in 2015 MSCC Bronka will be able to accommodate Post-Panamax containerships and the ferries of Finnstar class.
Implementation of the Bronka project is expected to generate 2,300 jobs at its marine terminals alone.
