The Captain of Big Port St. Petersburg Alexander Volkov has allowed navigation on Korabelny Fairway as from midnight on April 23, the Baltic Seaports Authority said.
The canal is ready for transit of vessels with navigational aids installed according to summer season navigation mode.
Big Port St. Petersburg is the largest port in the North-West of Russia. The port is located on the islands of the Neva River delta at the eastern tip of the Baltic Sea. The port is assessable from the Baltic Sea through the 27-mile long Marine Canal. The boundaries and adjacent waters of Big Port St. Petersburg include offshore anchorage area, terminals, warehouses and piers leased out to several stevedoring companies.
