In Vladivostok, from 3rd to 5th of September for the first time held East Economic Forum (WEF), which brought together representatives of government agencies of Russia and the Asia-Pacific region, major investors, representatives of business and industry experts. The event aims to accelerate the expansion of international cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. The central theme was the intensification of cooperation with China.The main objectives of the forum – the positioning of Russia as an active participant in economic and integration processes in the Asia-Pacific region, presenting to investors specific projects for collaboration.Large-scale event was attended by representatives of 24 countries. During this forum was signed 80 different agreements in the total amount of 1.3 trillion rubles value.
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held the speech during second day of the Forum. He told potential investors from Asian countries about the support mechanisms, and while enumerating the advantages of Free port of Vladivostok, opening in October, suggested the government to consider extending benefits to other harbors of Far East. The companies from the border provinces of China show interest in the port, the president said. Now a special zone includes the ports along the coast near Vladivostok from Zarubino to Nakhodka. The list of benefits of free port – the free customs zone, reducing the income tax rate (10% during ten years) and insurance fees (8% during ten years), simplified customs procedures: round the clock checkpoints, electronic declaration of goods and clearance through a single point control for deliveries, as well as visa-free regime up to 8 days.The free port of Vladivostok is managed by the supervisory board, headed by the Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Trutnev.
Also Vladimir Putin has promised to investors new transport corridors, such as the use of the Northern Sea route for container traffic. According to the head of “Rosatom” Sergei Kiriyenko, the passage way with nuclear icebreakers will make the year-round navigation with passage path 8-10 days.
Summarizing the WEF, Minister for Development of the Far East Alexander Galushka said that the objectives of the Forum were achieved. -We (With our foreign partners) will be developing mutually beneficial and balanced cooperation, based on – the national interests of Russia and China. The participants received detailed information, got answers to their questions. The crisis – is the time to actively implement projects such as a free port, the territories of priority development and other investment projects, – the minister said.
