In January-August 2016 Russian ports handled 468.5 million tones of cargo, which represents a 5.7-percent growth on the same period of 2015, Rosmorrechflot said.
The increase was driven primarily by a 9% and 3% gain in dry bulk and liquid bulk segments to 218.3 million and 250.2 million tonnes, accordingly.
Freight throughput at the sea ports of the Arctic basin was 30 mln t (+ 28.3%) including 17.5 mln t of dry cargo (+ 9%) and 12.5 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+ 71%).
Cargo handling at sea ports of the Baltic Sea reached 155.2 mln t (+ 2.1%) including 58.26 mln t of dry cargo (+ 1%) and 97 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+ 3%).
Freight traffic at the sea ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin totaled 157.9 mln t (+ 4.7%) including 67.6 mln t of dry cargo (+ 12%) and 90.3 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (- 0.3%).
However, the seaports of the Caspian basin handled 3.7 mln t (- 19.6 %) including 1.8 mln t of dry cargo (- 14%) and 1.9 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (- 24.2%).
Handling of outbound, inbound and transit cargo at the seaports of the Far Eastern basin rose to 121.5 mln t (+ 8.1%) including 73.1 mln t of dry cargo (+ 14%) and 48.4 mln t of liquid bulk cargo (+ 1%).
