According to the figures, published on the company’s website, the network owned by Russian Railways loaded 305,1 mln t. of freight in January – March 2017 which is 3,8% more than in the same period last year.
In Jan-Mar’17, Russian Railways loaded the following freight:
91,1 mln t of coal (+9,3%, y-o-y);
2,8 mln t of coke (+3,9%);
61,2 mln t of crude and oil products (-0,2%);
26,6 mln t of iron and manganese ores (-0,2%);
17,8 mln t of ferrous metal (+0,4%);
2,8 mln t of ferrous metal scrap (+21,6%);
14,3 mln t of chemical and mineral fertilisers (+5,1%);
4,6 mln t of cement (-2,3%);
10,8 mln t of timber (+3,9%);
5 mln t of grain (+0,6%);
27,9 mln t of construction materials (-3,2%);
5 mln t of non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock (-1,3%);
6,7 mln t of chemicals and soda (+3,5%);
7,8 mln t of industrial raw materials and molding materials (+13,2%).
In Jan–Mar’17, freight turnover increased compared to the same period 2016 by 7,3% and amounted to 607,6 bn tariff ton-km. Freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs amounted 779,4 bn ton-km.
In March 2017, Russian Railways network loaded 109 mln t of freight (+3,8% y-o-y). Freight turnover in March 2017, amounted 214,8 bn tariff ton-km, freight turnover taking into account empty wagon runs amounted 274,3 bn ton-km(+11,8%).
In first quarter 2017, the infrastructure owned by Russian Railays carried 242,8 mln passengers (+10,1% y-o-y), which of suburban passengers – 222,4 mln (+11,2%), long-distance passengers – 20,5 mln (+0,2%). For March Russian Railway’s network carried 88,8 mln passengers (+11,8%), which of suburban – 82 mln passengers (+12,9%), long-distance – 6,8 mln (+0,3%).
Passenger turnover since the beginning of the 2017 amounted 23 bln passenger-km (-0,9% y-o-y), which of for March – 7,7 bln passenger-km (-1,4% to Mar’16).
