In the first half of 2015 the turnover of OJSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (SP SPb) amounted to 4.3 mln tons, which is by 5% more than the indicator of the same period during the last year.
Positive dynamics was caused by growth of handling volumes of main cargoes – general cargoes, the volumes of which increased by 12% up to 3.5 mln tons. In particular, due to growth of export of Russian metallurgical companies handling volumes of steel handling volumes of ferrous metals increased up to 1.5 mln tons and exceeded by 28% the indicators of the first half of the last year. Handling of non-ferrous metals in the port increased by 24% up to 0.8 mln tons which is connected with the growth of export shipments of aluminum.
Within the reporting period SP SPb handled 193 th. tons of ro-ro cargoes which is by 36% less than the same indicator of 2014. Dynamics of this cargo flow was influenced by decrease of import volumes of new cars due to decline of Russian car market.
Within the reporting period handling of loose and bulk cargoes decreased by 19% to 0.8 mln tons mainly due to the decrease of handling volumes of mineral fertilizers. Handling volumes decreased by 41% to 0.3 mln tons due to transfer of the cargo flow to the specialized terminals in Russia and Baltic countries.
Within six months of 2015 export cargo flow of SP SPb increased by 8% to 3.7 mln tons in comparison with the 1st half of 2014 and import cargo flow decreased by 13% to 0.6 mln tons. Export share in the structure of the turnover of the company amounted to 85%, import share amounted to 15%.
